I'm on the fence on this one - Tony Hawk appearance @ White House as a pleasant relief of all the other things Obama has on his plate right now, or additional ammo/fodder folks none too happy with Obama right now could potentially use against him?
I think I side with the former idea and I am a big T Hawk fan, but I felt the same way when I read all that stuff about Kal Penn (Kumar from the stellar 'White Castle' flick) now being a White House staff member.
I guess I have already bellyached ad nasueum i/r/t celebrities and politics.
On second thought, Obama should have incarcerated Hawk: USE A SKATE, GO TO PRISON!
Look - I am sorry I said anything. Tony Hawk @ the White House is way cooler than Nancy Reagan showing up on Silver Spoons telling kids not to do drugs or Michael Jackson hanging out at the Whitehouse or Elvis with Nixon or whatever else people can remember from celebrities that hung out with White House right-wingers.
Did people seriously think I thought Mr. Hawk was giving policy lessons?
I'm with Roberts on this one:
"In today’s Post there were already reports that some youngsters were turning away from Mr. Jackson in favor of a newcomer who goes by the name “Prince,” and is apparently planning a Washington concert. Will he receive a Presidential letter?"
Obama to fakie.
Obama flip to heel side Smith grind
Half-cab Obama slide to revert.

I want to see some hoops: Obama & staff v. the cast of "Lost".
Have you bellyached about Reagan?
several times, yes.
on rs.n?
a defense of Reagan
Tony Hawk obviously needs to start doing tricks at the Governor's mansion before he attempts anything at the White House. Overacheiver!
Seriously: How is this different than the World Series winners appearing at the White House? It was a photo op for Father's Day...
I don't think it was different, save for the fact that Tony Hawk seems to be a stab at a younger/hipper demographic.

Um, yeah.
Can't believe I had MJ on the brain before yesterday's evening news. Weird.
OMG! YOU KILLED MJ!!!!!
I blame this guy.
I first read this as "Michael Jackson hanging out with Whitehouse." Sick!
Tony Hawk wasn't there to comment on policy (and I don't think Kal Penn does either).
Celebrity and politics are different sides of the same coin. Or maybe the same side.
If we governed by policy ideas, instead of the popularity contests we have now, we'd be in the third term of Gore.
Tony Hawk and Obama... WELL I'M SOLD!
Tony's probably being groomed for a run in '16.
C/J Roberts and MF DU of the same mind.

Awesome.
Second read:
Did Roberts get along with Reagan?
Thanks for these links, TGL. This is a good thread.
I think Roberts is going to run for president some day. Roberts 2020 "Move over Reagan, now there's something better!"
