Coasters - 10th Anninversary of Rollo de Mayo

Been meaning to bring this up for a while, and now that Spring has sprung, it is roller coaster season. I have been droolling over Apollo Chariot at Busch Gardens, VA (smoothest coaster ever some say), and the Manta adverts during the Olympics got me excited about that "flying coaster" too. Plus the new Diamondback at Kings Island looks fantastic. But the make over of Superman in Agawam, MA as "Bizarro", with new cars got me riled up too.

My 3 favorite people of the week

Jacques Pépin -
He and Batali are the only chefs on TV with stunning knife work. Plus "More Fast Food My Way" is the greatest food TV program of all time.

Teddie -
Karaoke Tonite. Shows up by himself. Lead off Karaoke. Unphased. "Feels like the First Time". Nicest guy. He can sing.

Tom Berenger -
The Big Chill, Eddie and the Cruisers, Rustlers' Rhapsody, Platoon, Major League, The Substitute, Training Day...

Reagan on the $50?

I first heard this and thought it was a joke. But it turns out it's not.

"President Reagan was a modern day statesman, whose presidency transformed our nation's political and economic thinking."
You are correct Representative Patrick McHenry, but America proved Reaganomics doesn't work and failed. Not the economic transformation one would want to celebrate.

Maybe we should put an image of GW Bush on the Peace Corps shield!

Since people have been posting a lot of videos...

Cool screen framing thing going on. Too bad it's a salsa advert. Best not embedded:

2010 Winter Olympics - Vancouver

Pretty good Opening Ceremony. The singing hasn't been so good. Brian Adams and someone were awful with a bad song and embarrasing. Bob Costas had a great awkward, "And now, Ladies and Gentlemen, famous recording artist Sarah Mclaughlin..."

I'm pretty sure they had "Population = $34 million" for the ticker info on Algeria on the bottom of the screen.

"The Bombing of Germany" - American Experience/WGBH

Holy Cow! The footage of "The Bombing of Germany" is fantastic!
What's most wondrous, is that the Berlin shots are so clear, in focus, and not grainy. Those Germans sure made nice film cameras, lenses, and film.

End Bits - Freekin COLD Edition

GDP +5.7%? After talking to a builder at Victor's Deli today who mentioned Somerville house sales are getting record breaking $ per sq. foot, I wonder how do we measure the econ recovery?

10 Second Campaign

If I may ask 10 seconds of your time, please nominate me for 'Best Bartender'. You don't need to fill out any more of the form. Pathetic I know, but there are some decent perks:
